Day 88

Graffiti

Apr 29th, 2023

When I was younger, my sister bought me a canvas print of Banksy’s original ‘Pulp Fiction’ stencil. Not long after my parents got me his book Wall and Piece. Since then, I really appreciate and enjoy street art. Recently near where I live, the city opened a legal street art wall. Today I went down and had a look.

It’s fascinating to me the scope of street art. I personally prefer the murals over a large tag, which seemed to be the predominant style on the walls currently. Though here and there I could catch a glimpse of some amazing designs hidden underneath newer works. It made me think. What’s the street art etiquette? How long does a piece get it’s time to shine? Is it different on a legalised wall like this, than in the street art wilds?

Maybe one day I’ll search for some answers but for now, I look forward to going back regularly and seeing the new works of the ever changing walls. Until then enjoy my largest gallery I’ve posted for one of these blog posts.
